Welcome to the ten minute M B, a I'myour host Scott de Clary on the ten in NBA. I give you tactic, strategies, insights, lessons that you can use to start scale grow or Tex Your Business.Today, I'm going to walk through some things that you should think about. When you're starting to build a personal brand, you can use a personalbrand to sell yourself your own services. You can use a personal brandto evangelize an organization or a company to sell a product or a piece ofhardware or a piece of technology or software there's many reasons why. I am,of course, a firm believer, a believer in personal brands, but I think youshould be too but regardless, if you aren't bought into personal brands, that's maybe a conversation for a different day, but today I'm going tospeak to the people that are bought into the concept of personal brands. You've seen personal brands everywhere online. If you're in the business world, perhaps you've even seen, people create incredible powerful brands on length in,and you want to know how to start how to think about what your personal brandshould be. That's what I'm going to...

...speak about today, let's get right intoit all right. So how do you start apersonal brand you've already bought into the concept you want to create amemor of a memorable brand for you, for whatever reason it is that doesn'treally matter, you just buy it into the concept they had to figure out how todo it so creating a memorable, personal brand is not something that happensovernight. That's the first thing you got to understand, and this is actuallyprobably one of the most important lessons, because this is where a lot ofpeople fall fly. They see somebody's personal brand, they see the years, orrather the culmination of years of hard work and somebody's personal brand. That person is at a level ten you're, starting at a level zero and you'reexpecting to get to that person's level in a short period of time. It's notgoing to happen so personal brand is long term. Think about it like best. What's a brand, you can carry with you until the day you die, and maybe youwon't, but if you can commit the something for that long, it's going tobe super easy and super successful to...

...create something. That's going to besuccessful. That's a lesson for business. That's a lesson for arelationship! That's a left lesson for life, but it's also a lesson for apersonal brand. So creating a like a memorable personal brand will nothappen overnight, but the work you put in can help you reach any career goal, any business goal you want as long as you start today. You know like they saythe best time to start was yesterday. The second best time to start would betoday so get started. It's never too late. Ever ever ever across any socialmedia channel, it's never too late. Remember your personal brand is the waypeople perceive or remember you. You already have a personal brand, even ifyou've never posted anything on any social media platform, because peoplehave opinions about who you are by creating content by speaking aboutsubjects, you control the narrative, you control what your brand is and whatit isn't so that it's not up to someone else's random interpretation of who youare, it could be right, it could be...

...incorrect, could be correcting correct. So you want to control that narrative. You want to put content out. It speaksto what you do. What you know about who you are so that people will be crystalclear on what your brand is. It's, what you're known for in all honesty havinga personal brand can open up doors. You never even know existed. It can help.Distinguish you in your career, your business. I can help you sell more. Itcan help you network more and help you get better jobs. It can help you startbusinesses. It can literally help you do whatever you want. When people knowyou people trust, you things happen so think about Elon Musk you on Moscas, apersonal brand, Elon Musk himself is known as a visionary as an entrepreneur. He has projects so s Tesla, SPACEX starlink. They reflect his visionarypersonal brand, but more people know what's happening with Elon Musk, thenthe day to day happenings of Tesla. If you look at a company's social account,Tesla has less followers than Elon Musk Elon musk projects show he stands forpushing the limits of what is currently possible, but it all comes back to Elon.It all comes back to what he's doing...

...he's. He says something on a podcastand testes stock tanks. He says something and people listen, that's thepower of a personal brand. So whether or not you're trying to excel in yourcareer or be known for Your Business. A personal brand can help creating abrand, shows your values and highlights your strengths. When a prospect islooking, you up online, your personal brain and give them a snap shot of whatyou represent. It's a way of expressing who you are your long term vision whenyour personal brand resonates with you and your values. You attract people inyour tribe and your community in your inner circle, whom you connect with whoyou vibe with this, is how you build your tribe. People will not gravitatetowards you if you don't put yourself out there. Of course, you'll have yoursmall circle within your group or your office or your community, but we'retalking about larger we're talking about leverage, we're talking aboutsocial media, about free access to the world, and you can use that and theInternet social media. That gives you the advantage to build your personalbrand in the long run. A personal brand can help you sell a product e, orcourse or service or software, or...

...distinguish your reputation on theindustry. Like I said, the worst you put into your personal brand can alsocamptown. So it's a long term play. But after you do it for a while people willreach out to you knowing you're an expert in a certain area, you mayreceive requests for speaking engagements for podcast. You may launcha product of your own and you could have an audience of people who trustyou, who you can just sell to you day one. So if these are all things thatsound great to you, then this is what you have to think about when you'restarting a personal brand step. One start with a story. Stories drive ourworld. They evoke feelings, they vocation they take people to a place. They help people associate themselves with you with your struggle with yourstory with who you are. How did you get to where you are today? What's the? Why,behind your work, tell us story, people will resonate with it. So you need toknow- and this is not making up a story- don't get a twisted. This is justfiguring out how to tell a story of who you are in a compelling way thatcaptures people's attention, because if you just go to somebody off the street-and you just ask them what they've done...

...over their life, there's a good chancethat if they just red you that monologue, it would be super boringbecause they haven't figured out how to highlight the parts. It should behighlighted how to speak to the certain things that drive emotion, that pull atour heart strings that resonate with us, that we can empathize and sympathizewith. That's telling a story: IT'S NOT MAKING STUFF UP! It's telling who youare better! It's it's actually properly communicating who you are in a way thatinvokes emotion in others and properly communicates with others. SO THAT'SNUMBER ONE! You have to have your story! Think of your story! Think of thepoints think of your life. Think of about what you've done and that's whatyou should have a personal story, an origin story. I like to call it: it'scalled whatever you want, but I mean have that origin story have that storyafter that you want to have a brand promise. A brand of promise issomething that a business would normally do, but it's something thatyou're going to do with your personal brand as well. So what is a brandpromise? A brand promise is a statement that communicates what followers canexpect from you. Whenever they interact...

...with your brand or your company, it canturn into a tag line on social media, regardless of the business you start orthe products you launch. What is the brand promise that will tie thosethings together? Aka? What do you want to be known for? What is the thing thatpeople think about the second? They hear your name and that's your brandpromise and that's what they're going to show up to get from you and you gotto deliver against that brand promise again and again and again, but havethat brand promise? Don't try and be master of e? Don't try and be you know,Jack of all trades doing everything, because that is not what resonates withan audience. It's you being known for a thing, even if you're great at manythings you have to be known for a thing third step in a personal brand isresearch is may sound a little bit unusual, but doing research will helpyou get crystal clear on who your brand is for, as well as the brands in yourindustry. They follow so other people that have their own personal brandslook into them. What do they speak about? What is their story? What isthere brand promised understand? Who...

The people are in your industry thatyou want to tap into the audience of get that, so you want to find peoplethat are already doing the thing that you want to do. Maybe they've beendoing it a little bit longer and you want to figure out how they figured out,how to do it so that you can learn and take those lessons and then make surethat what you do, but you speak about what you post about what you talk about. Those things resonate with the audience that you want to tap into, and there'salready people doing it so just learn people that have already been doing it.Who Do you want to impact? Who Do you want to receive your message, whichbrands and your industry does your audience, follow what words, whatphrases you're actually going to be using ask people to list trates aboutyou that stand out to them? This is also part of the research process, interviewing people- maybe maybe it's your openness, your attitude, yourintroversion or extra version. It does matter. You can use all of these thingsto your advantage in your brand personality. You just have tounderstand what these items are, and this is actually what I just listed offthe WHO do you want to impact? Who Do you want to receive your message whichbrands in your industry does your...

...audience, follow what words or phraseswill you use and then interview people to understand your own personalpersonality traits write those things down and that's what you shouldliterally write down and be firm on and be clear on before you start buildingyour brand be systematic about it put in the work before you start so thatyou're not floundering later on and not knowing what you stand for and what youwant to speak about, and you just want to be clear on this from day one. So Irecommend you do it before you start posting stuff or, if you've been tryingto build a brand for a while and you're. Just listening to this now, that's coolstart itemizing these things as soon as you can, after you do your research. You want to build an online presence. This is obviously common sense, but youknow common sense is in common, so you want to start putting stuff out there. You want to get started on building digital platforms that so that peoplestumble upon you online, but you want to optimize those platforms withinteresting information that ties into the research you've done the brandpromise you want to deliver and the story that you speak about, so thatwhen people stumble upon you online,...

...they can learn more about you, but theyknow what they're getting themselves into so they can convert into afollower into a tribe member and do a community member and to somebody wholikes who you are and what you speak about a couple things that you shouldbe doing you should be building a website website is your digitalstorefront. That tells people about what you offer can also be a greatplace to archive blo content, to write to host podcast etcetera, so have awebsite social media. So this is, of course, where you're going to beposting all of your content. You can reach your existing audience, expandyour audience. You can take one of your social media platforms audience and youcan try and cross pollinate your other social media platforms so that you takeyour twitter audience and you try and bring them over to instagram and yourinstagram over to Youtube and so on and so forth. So you're always trying togrow all of your social platforms with net new followers, as well as withexisting followers. You want to have email so sending newsletters intosomebody's inbox. Your followers in box...

...can build personal intimaterelationships, have some sort of newsletter cadence. It doesn't have tobe every day, probably difficult for most people to do it every day, but atleast do it, for example, once a week or by weekly, and then of course, smalldetails. So you want to optimize your website, your social media, you'resayin that you're on your email use a headshot and graphics to convey yourbrand personality and keep that personality in everything, includingyour email signature. So I, for example, have one head shot across all of mysocial. I use the same handle across all of my social on my website, thestyle that I used in my email and on my social. It all matches up so wheneverthey see my head shot on one social, they'll. Think of me, whichever socialmedia platform that is, I have something that is branded and style tome and then the last point, which is something I touched on right out, thegate is to think long term. Thinking long term helps you get crystal clearon where you want to take your brand. What's the purpose behind your brand, how can you build your personal brand to help you in the long term? In whatway does it aligned with your goals? So...

...this is just a long term planning outbe in it for the long game it's going to take a while, but no matter when youstart it will always benefit you as long as you don't quit on it, so builda brand. Have a personal brand think long term think what can I do with mybrand until I die and it doesn't matter if you change it and iterate and andchange it up and switch it up a little bit. That's fine, but still have thatlong term vision in place through creating this recognition branding canbe like the elevator that takes you to any goal. You want. You want to putyourself out there, you want to be you be authentic, don't trap yourself in abox just be who you are in real life on the Internet and then Dash a littlesprinkle of your subject matter, expertise and that's a great way tostart a personal brand and then, if you want to get a little bit moresystematic about it than you can follow, you know these five steps to actuallydo it properly. But at the end of the day the most important thing is is toconstantly show up online and be you...

...and if you can do that for a longperiod of time Vala you have created a personal brand that resonates with somepeople. There's billions of people on this planet, whoever you are is goingto resonate with a significant amount of them. They just have to find you sostart today. Anyways, that's differ today. Remember any business questionyou have. Don't worry, I got you. This has been another ten minute. NBA have agreat night. I will see you tomorrow. I.
